Is A Woman A Superior Auto Salesperson?

From time immemorial, salesmen have the reputation of being slick and dishonest. Such movies as Used Cars, and The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard, give the impression that the only way to sell a car is to use trickery or some form of deceptiveness. Many car dealers have gone a long way in proving these facts wrong. For a long time, car salesmen have been earning their bread through commissions. Finding a commission no matter the method used was crucial as this is what the salesman depended on to make a living.

Over a long period of time, the old adage Let the buyer beware has been in use. The idea was, was looking for a car, especially a used one, you had to know your stuff and make sure the person you're working with has your best interest at heart.

Though most car salesmen are not what they are perceived to be, there are enough of this type that should make you wary when looking for your car. Car salesman come in all shapes and sizes. Some are smooth talkers. Others give it to you straight. There are others that don't tell if not asked. Also, there are women car salesmen alongside men. Are women better car salesmen than men?

It is a fact that many women are not for the idea to find a car using a salesman. Though, they might change their minds if the salesman turns out to be a woman. A woman salesman would understand what the other woman desires.

Additionally, women seem to have a softer approach. This thus draws people who would have rather ran away making them better salesmen.

Women have the ability to listen better as they also want to be heard. This is the reason women prefer dealing with their counterparts.

Another consideration is the put down most women feel when the male salesman says "shouldn't your husband me with you?" Women salesmen do not do that. This does not happen with women salesmen. They presume that you are aware of what you want when you come to the car yard. Additionally, these women have been through this and understand what you are going through.

Women understand each other better hence get to trust each other. Empathy is crucial in sales. Sales is really about emotion. Women know how to use emotion much better than men.

A lot of men get to deal with women salesmen. They are less threatened by women salesmen as they assume they know more than them. This comes at an advantage to women salesmen especially the honest ones who do a good days job and get a day's pay.
